Nassfeld Overview
Nassfeld is a little-known jewel for school ski trips to Austria and has an impressive 110 kilometres of piste with an altitude of 2020 metres. There are wide slopes for your school ski group beginners at the Sonnleitn ski village and 19 red runs for intermediates. The resort straddles the Italian border with superb views both across the Alps and the Italian Dolomites, and has a good snow record on account of its high altitude with comprehensive snow cannon coverage and beginner slopes located at mid-station. Possible après-ski activities include the ‘Laser Biathlon’ and a complex at Villach with indoor and outdoor pools.

Situated in Kötschach-Mauthen, a 25 minute drive to the Nassfeld ski area. Run by the friendly Guggenberger family, this is a great choice for groups and offers a high standard of accommodation.

Swimming

What you’ll experience: Enjoy some leisure time in the swimming centre at the Aquarena Kötschach-Mauthen in the evenings. A great way to relax tired muscles after a long day on the slopes!
Select says: The centre includes a large indoor pool with bubble jets, underwater massage benches and a 45-metre-long flume, an outdoor pool with children’s area, white water section and climbing net, a sunbathing lawn, large sports pool, diving pool, a solarium and spa area with a range of saunas, and a restaurant with large, sunny terrace.
Ice Skating

What you’ll experience: A great way of experiencing a different winter sport. Brilliant for having fun and socialising in the evenings. There is also the option to play traditional curling and ice hockey on the frozen lake.
Select says: The Pressegger See Lake is located between the Carnic Mountains and the Gailtal Alps. It is one of the first lakes to freeze over during the winter and is a popular activity for all abilities and ages. Skates can be hired on site.
Pizza Evening

What you’ll experience: A pizza evening is a great opportunity for the group to socialise after a days skiing and is always popular with the students.

Bowling

What you’ll experience: Austrian style bowling. Always a popular activity and a great way for pupils to relax and socialise at the end of the day.

Kärnten Therme - Villach

What you’ll experience: The Kärnten Therme in Villach offers several multi-purpose indoor swimming pools and a number of outdoor pools for the group to enjyoy and relax their muscles after a long day on the slopes!
