Let’s dive in and explore the world together!

Les 2 Alpes

An early start was the order of the day as I met our guests on the Easter 2023 ski inspection visit.

We were flying Easyjet to Lyon, and as usual, the check-in was quick and straightforward. We were heading to Les 2 Alpes, a French ski resort, for the first few days of our trip.

Upon arrival in Les 2 Alpes, we checked into our hotel and met for ski fit. The ski fit was quick and efficient and took just a short distance from our hotel.

We’d had a long day, so after our evening meal, we retired ready to explore the mountain, all in all this was a great start to the ski inspection.

We were hosted on the first morning by Katie Brodie from SATA and an ESF ski instructor. We walked to the ESF meeting point and headed up to the mid-station on the Jandri Express. The mid-station is at 2200m with amazing conditions; we skied the Toura at 2600m, before taking the Jandri Express up to the Glacier. The resort top is 3600m and we have no worries about snow conditions during Easter. We spent some time at the Glacier enjoying the top of the mountain feel, before taking the Blue Jandri runs right back down to Cretes where we had a lovely lunch.

The afternoon was incredible; the sun came out and we skied plenty of kms from the top of the Glacier right down to resort level. The beauty of Les 2 Alpes is that there are beginner and progression runs from top to bottom, which allows for each skier to enjoy the whole mountain.

We were hosted by the Hotel Atmosphere, just a very short walk from the ski school meeting point, the Jandri Express and the White Egg lifts, which was the last week running before the lifts are being upgraded.

The next two days of the ski inspection, we skied Les 2 Alpes, and had the most amazing time. The weather was clear, cold and allowed for some superb conditions for us all to enjoy.

We also visited some of the hotels on our programme, including the Hotel Cairn, Doumes Lodge, Chalet des Glaciers and the People Hostel. Each hotel offers something unique, and there really is an accommodation for everyone, whether it be sole occupancy, short walk to slopes, student style accommodation or the brand new and functional Chalet des Glaciers.

Claviere

On day 4 of the of ski inspection, we made the 2 hour journey from Les 2 Alpes to Claviere which was to be our home for the last couple of nights. Claviere is a wonderful village, and very suitable for school groups. We stayed at the Passero Pellegrino, which is a lovely option for our school groups, located close to the slopes and offering hot lunches and a communal space for groups to meet for evening activities.

We ski fitted in Montgenevre, and for Easter groups that ski Montgenevre they are able to store skis, and collection is very quick and just a short walk to the ski school meeting point.

We skied Montgenevre for 2 days and had the pleasure of a Claviere ski instructor, Francesco from Prato Nevoso and Stefano from San Sicario Action. The ski instructors were keen to meet us and show us around, so we split into small groups for our skiing, and even got a few tips – even the advanced skiers among us were put through their paces. The conditions were amazing; cold, fresh snow and the perfect end to the season. With Montgenevre up to 2800m, it is certainly a fabulous option for Easter skiing.

On our last day of the inspection visit, we had time to visit the Hotel Miramonti, another great school group hotel in Claviere which can offer sole occupancy for larger groups. We then travelled 20 minutes to the Olympic Centre in San Sicario, where we were offered a warm welcome and the chance to have a look at the centre which is perfect for larger groups.

All in all, we had a great time. A wonderful few days and left us all raring to go for the next season.
