This ski season, we’re asking staff and teachers about their favourite resorts so you can get the inside knowledge that may help you choose where to travel for the next ski season. Next up is one of our ski specialists Francesca Gerard, with her choice Vallnord in Andorra:
Vallnord is sunny and has beautiful views. The skiing is varied and there aren’t any queues which is a real bonus.
You can enjoy duty-free shopping in Andorra La Vella. Vallnord works particularly well for school groups as there is excellent beginner and intermediate terrain and a strong family atmosphere. There are also snow-sure areas throughout the season regardless of snowfall, and hot buffet lunches on the mountain which schools love. Ski storage is at the bottom of the mountain and there are excellent British and Irish ski instructors. For evening entertainment, there is ice skating close by in Canillo, and swimming in Ordino.
My tip for air groups is to travel in from Barcelona as there are no hairpin bends! My favourite accommodation is La Solana in Arinsal as it has an in-house disco which groups love.
Francesca Gerard – Ski Tour Coordinator
Thanks to Francesca for her thoughts on Vallnord. We agree that it’s a great resort for school ski trips! If you would like to find out more about Vallnord and view the ski facts, piste map, apres ski and accommodation, you can view here.
