Sportwelt / Amadé Overview
The Salzburger Sportwelt is the core of Ski Amadé, Austria’s largest ski paradise. The whole Amadé ski area offers an immense 860 kilometres of piste, with the Salzburger Sportwelt sector connecting several towns and villages. This includes the four valleys of Radstadt, Flachau, Wagrain and St Johann. The main access to the circuit is at Alpendorf where three chair lifts link directly, leading to a variety of excellent skiing for all abilities, with blue and challenging red runs. Groups will usually ski two or three different sectors during their week’s stay. The area has a reliable snow record, with the high slopes of Zauchensee providing early and late season snow security. There’s a great choice of evening activities for school ski groups such as bowling, ice-skating, tobogganing, and sleigh rides.

Jugendsporthotel Stadler
Location: Flachau

The Jugendsporthotel Stadler is situated on the edge of Flachau within walking distance of the lifts, enabling groups to ski the Salzburger Sportwelt with ease as well as being within easy reach of the Obertauern ski area. It is made up of two main buildings and also boasts a sports hall. Each group gets their own dining room and recreation room with table tennis and table football, making it a superb choice for your next school ski trip!

Jugendgästehaus Wenghof

Offering an ideal location just a short distance from the ski lifts and the centre of Radstadt. This accommodation offers an excellent standard with great facilities. The friendly Steiner family are well-versed in looking after school groups and are sure to give you a warm welcome! Highly recommended accommodation - book early to secure your dates.

Jugendgästehaus Sportheim

Located in Altenmarkt, this modern accommodation has recently been renovated and has great facilities for school groups.
Rooms: Friendly, modern designed rooms. 15 youth rooms sleeping 6/7 with a generous bathroom and separate WC. 9 rooms for teachers/leaders: 2-bed rooms with bathroom and WC (twin beds – no double beds).
Facilities: Sports hall - 180 m² for volleyball, basketball, hockey and ball games. Leisure room - 180 m², with a video projector, DVD recorder, disco (groups need to bring their own music on their laptop or mobile phone), table-tennis, 2 table football tables, TV room, freeWLAN. Ski drying room. Additional information: Groups staying at the Sportheim are offered orange juice, fruit juice, iced tea, red berry or water with their meal.

The Bachlehen Johanneshof is located in Radstadt close to the ski area and ski lifts (300 metres). The Edthof is a traditional looking building with a modern interior. There are two main wings, each accommodating approximately 60 in multi-bedded rooms, and 6 buildings in total. The accommodation offers excellent facilities for school ski groups including an indoor swimming pool.
Rooms: A total of 150 beds split over 6 buildings. Rooms are modern, light and nicely furnished, and all are en-suite.Teachers are usually accommodated in twin rooms.

Situated in the village of Wagrain, 500m to the Flying Mozart high-speed gondola to the Wagrainerhaus, the starting point of numerous runs. This is a sought after and highly popular youth hotel which has been a popular choice for many years with British schools.
Rooms: 45 rooms accommodating 1-8 pupils with bunk-beds, all with a private shower and WC.
Facilities: Extensive in-house facilities including sports hall, games room, and an ideal entertainment room for discos etc, multimedia room / cinema, sauna and solarium for teachers at a small charge.

Ice Skating Radstadt

What you’ll experience: Ice skating on the large natural skating rink by the sport centre is always a highlight for groups of all ages and abilities. This memorable activity is a chance to try a different winter sport beside skiing as well as have some fun away from the slopes!

Alpine Coaster "Lucky Flitzer" - Flachau

What you’ll experience: Experience this unique 1,100m long alpine coaster, which simulates the thrill of tobogganing. The coaster is located in the Hotel Lacknerhof Funpark, which also features a mini electric-powered go-kart circuit.

What you’ll experience: The Therme Amadé Spa offers an extensive range of sauna and water experiences with heated indoor and outdoor pools which can be used all year round. The pool is saline water.

Altaussee Salt Mine

What you’ll experience: Endless tunnels lead into the depths of the mountain at the Saltmine Altaussee, lined by shimmering walls of coloured rock-salt. This is the largest active salt mine in Austria. Visitors are led past the “Chamber of Inner Light” and the “Chapel of St Barbara” before what is sure to be a real highlight for students – sliding down into the heart of the mountain on two miners’ slides directly to the subterranean salt lake.

Curling – Radstadt

What you’ll experience: The group is guaranteed to have fun when ice-curling at the sport center’s curling rink. Great for socialising and trying a different winter sport beside skiing!

Bowling (skittles)

What you’ll experience: Enjoy a night in one of the Austrian style bowling alleys. This is a 9-pin game which is quite different from the American style 10-pin! This is a great opportunity to get involved in traditional Austrian culture while bowling in the ski Amadé region.
